• Spring Enrichment Classes will begin the week of 4/8/24 and each class will run for 8 sessions.
• ONLY current Westbriar students are eligible to enroll.
• Enrichment classes will not be held on early dismissal days, no school days, inclement weather days, or if the classroom is not available, due to this the week each class ends varies. 

Kiddo Registration FAQs:
 

• Registration will take place through our Third Party Vendor, Kiddo (with the exception of Art Club)
• Families must create an account in Kiddo prior to registration
• When you register for a class your registration will display as "Pending."
• Once a class reaches its minimum number of participants, the vendors will accept registrations in the order they are received. Your method of payment will not be charged until the class meets its minimum number of students and the vendor accepts your registration.
• Classes DO NOT display a live update with the number of available spots. Once a class reaches its maximum number of students the vendor WILL NOT accept any more registrations and the class will be removed from the Kiddo Registration page but it is not real time. If there is a class your student is interested in, please plan to register early as some classes will sell out. Vendors CANNOT exceed their maximum number of students.
• Each class has an assigned grade range. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to these grade ranges.
• Once your registration is accepted and your method of payment is charged, there are NO REFUNDS.

Dismissal FAQs:

• All classes are held on Westbriar campus.
• Morning enrichment classes are 8:00am - 9:00am and students are dismissed directly from class.
• Afternoon enrichment classes are held from 4:15-5:15 and students are dismissed directly to afternoon enrichment at 4:05.
• Afternoon students will need to be picked up and signed out by a parent or guardian at 5:15pm if “PICK UP” is your dismissal choice.
• Parents/Guardians may select “WALK” as the dismissal preference if you want to allow your student to sign themselves out to leave. (Note: this option is not available for Kindergarten students)

Below is a schedule for our Spring enrichment classes. Those classes in BLUE meet in the morning before school and those in GRAY meet in the afternoon after school.

Art Club: This club is offered by a not for profit group. The class will be taught by IB High School Students from Marshall High School. There will be adult supervision at all club meetings; however, instruction will come from the high school students. All volunteer adult supervisors will go through the same background check process as our for profit providers. As a result, this club is only charging a small fee to cover the cost of art supplies. Over the course of these 8 classes, students will create multiple pieces of art and will then choose one work to display at an internal art show at the end of the program. Each class will be dedicated to develop techniques with a new material. The first two classes will be the basic foundation for the rest of the sessions; afterwards, students will be able to choose the medium of their final art piece for the showcase from the following options: Colored pencils - shading techniques, color layering; Ink - markers, brush pens, line art; Soft & oil pastels - blending techniques, complementary colors; Watercolor - brush techniques, layering (will last for more than one class in order to teach students proper techniques); Collages & mixed media - allows students to use their favorite previous materials to produce a larger piece. WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, Grades 2-6

Build Your-Own Electrical Circuit: Children are fascinated by lights and sounds but know little about the circuits and electronics behind them. We make it easy for children to learn with practical hands-on activities and experiments. Not only are these activities fun, safe, and easy; they will introduce children to the field of engineering and inspire them to become tomorrow’s problem solvers. Students’ proficiency in electronics is assessed during the first session and, based on the outcome of the assessment, are divided into groups of no more than two. Students who have attended previous Stemtree programs will have different activities and continue learning new concepts based on their prior work.  MONDAY AFTERNOON, Grades K-6

Chess Club (Magnus Chess Academy): We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time. This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time. All chess supplies provided. All skill levels are welcome.                      WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, Grades K-6

Coding For Fun: This Stemtree’s Coding After School Program uses Scratch and teaches students the concepts of computer programming in a fun and interactive way, while developing their basic reasoning and problem-solving skills. We teach students how to create and develop computer programs (games, stories, etc.) instead of playing them. They will combine multimedia elements to create and share their own interactive stories, animations, games, music and art. Students will also create their own computer programs to implement computer games and combine multiple concepts taught throughout the program. It is important to note that children who attended our previous Stemtree camps or our after school program(s) will have different activities and continue learning new STEM concepts based on their prior work with us.  TUESDAY AFTERNOON, Grades 1-6

Minecraft Club – Harry Potter Adventure: Welcome to the World of Witchcraft and Wizardy! In this class, students will learn to code while exploring an interactive Harry Potter world in Minecraft! Every class is a new adventure and opportunity to put coding fundamentals into action. Traveling to Hagrid’s hut, the Quidditch pitch, Privet Drive, Diagon Alley, and beyond, kids will take on quests, fight off some monsters, and cast some magic spells! Join us on this incredible and magical journey! Projects include: brewing potions, enchanting items with special abilities, learn Redstone basics. Prior coding or Minecraft experience not required.  FRIDAY AFTERNOON, Grades 1-4.

Mudskippers Pottery: Join Mudskippers Pottery as we shake off those Winter blues as we explore nature in Spring! Get ready to get your hands dirty and tackle NEW projects that are sure to keep you entertained. You will work on hand-built projects as you take your pottery from start to finish, even glazing your own work! This Spring we will create pinch pot and slab lily pad candle holders, coil beehive shakers, and fish slab wall pockets. You don’t want to miss this chance to create memorable masterpieces you can cherish all year round! Come on and let’s get muddy! TUESDAY AFTEROON, Grades K-6

Musical Theater - Spring Edition: Students will learn the meaning of a triple threat performer in this class that introduces the main components of musical theatre including voice, acting, basic music theory, and dance technique (typically musical theatre jazz/broadway style and/or hip hop.) Learn choreography and staging basics while utilizing props, role playing, and imagination to aid in personal expression and creativity! Students will learn and collaborate on mini musical routines from both old school Broadway shows like Cats and Mary Poppins, to more contemporary productions and shows like Hamilton, Annie, Lion King, and more! The session will culminate with an informal, in class parent showcase on the last day of class! We will be teaching new material and choreography. The class will be great for both returner and new students! FRIDAY AFTERNOON, Grades K-6

Nothing But Net (K-3): This program focuses on learning the basic fundamentals of basketball with group games like dribble freeze tag, dribble knockout and shooting contests.  In addition, we will learn the jump stop, chest/bounce/overhead passes as well as defensive positioning.  Each class will end with full court 5 v 5 games. MONDAY MORNING, Grades K-3

Nothing But Net (4-6): In this class we will start with ball handling drills, and full court passing, shooting drills, lay ups and work on rebounding and defense.  We will play small group basketball games as well as 5 v 5 full court.  This is a great way to get exercise, have some fun, and build basketball skills each and every week.  WEDNESDAY MORNING, Grades 4-6

Robotics: All facets of our life are affected by engineering -- genetic, civil, software -- just to name a few. To be successful in the field of engineering, creative problem-solving abilities are a must. Robo-Fun uses the wonder and genius of robots to inspire students to learn engineering, apply their knowledge and skills of basic science, model construction, computer programming, and problem solving to explore STEM concepts. This program utilizes instructional time, assessments, and hands-on activities to reinforce key concepts and improve problem-solving skills while having fun. Robo-Fun is both a perfect introduction to the world of robotics for younger students and an opportunity to expand the knowledge base of older students. It is important to note that children who attended our previous Stemtree camps or our after-school program(s) will have different activities to continue learning new STEM concepts based on their prior work with us. THURSDAY AFTERNOONS, Grades 1-6

Spanish: International School of Language (ISL) offers a comprehensive language program tailored for elementary school children who are either beginning to explore a foreign language or seeking to enhance their existing knowledge. Beyond language acquisition, our program also teaches culture and traditions of the language being studied. Throughout the program, students will explore various topics, with rotations occurring in each session. This ensures that students registering for subsequent sessions will encounter new and diverse content. Our classes maintain a small size to provide an optimal learning environment. Taught by native speakers who are seasoned educators in both language and culture, our instructors are known for their engaging, enjoyable, and motivating teaching styles. They seize every moment as an opportunity to encourage students to actively use and practice their speaking skills. To enhance the language learning experience, each program introduces a variety of games and activities that systematically develop the skills required for learning a second language. THURSDAY MORNING, Grades K-6

Spring Games:  Let's open the Spring Season with fitness and Fun! The Brazilian Soccer School and Coach Ed presents Spring Games for your children to join in. This Spring we will be exploring fun group activities and games for them to enjoy! From baseball and tug of war, to dodge ball, freeze tag, and much more! Classes will be held both indoors and outdoors. We will have a great deal of fun and run our energy to the Spring beats. TUESDAY AFTERNOONS, Grades K-6

Soccer / Fitness Class: The Brazilian Soccer School and Coach Ed’s Soccer & Fitness class goes over the fundamentals of soccer and at the same time enhances the children's physical activity. Children will explore their natural disposition for having a spontaneous joyful approach to soccer while also maintaining their fitness levels at a high. Classes are for K-6th grade and focus on coordination, self esteem building and improving overall fitness levels. Even at these early age groups one can recognize individual talents and work towards letting them shine! THURSDAY AFTERNOON, Grades K-6 

Sports Agility Class: Presented by the Brazilian soccer School and Coach Ed, The focus of this class is helping students K-6 in mastering the technical skills needed in the game of soccer. The focus is to ensure our players are two-footed, and quick in movement and decision making, we also continue to develop their spatial awareness and ability to change the tempo and direction of the game. We incorporate the principles of teamwork into the training and adopt multiple systems of play. They attain all these skills through exciting drills and practice scrimmages. FRIDAY AFTERNOON, Grades K-6 

Tiny Chefs – All American Diner:  We’ve assembled some of our favorite recipes to create the ultimate All-American Diner Challenge!  Each week students will learn how to make the daily special—with a twist! They will be challenged to use a “secret ingredient” to keep the menu fresh and not let any food go to waste. Our Tiny Chefs will also be challenged to use their imaginations and new-found culinary knowledge to plan their own restaurants. If your Tiny Chef loves Top Chef and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, this is the class for them!                         WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, Grades K-6       

Ultimate Magic – Orange Wand: OMG! The Orange Wand Magic class is coming to Westbriar! Get ready to take an amazing adventure into the exciting world of magic. Learn how to teleport objects across the room, find hidden magical treasures and levitate a cup of popcorn just to name a few. In this course students will learn the three parts that make up a magic trick with a special focus on presentation. More importantly they will discover the real secrets to becoming a true magician as each lesson reveals an important life skill to help build their confidence and communica- tion skills. Each lesson comes with a custom magic prop, a top secret file folder, and a secret word to unlock bonus videos in an online video vault. This life changing program builds self-confidence and develops critical communication skills in a fun and unique way that is guaranteed to unlock your child’s potential and impact the rest of their life.  MONDAY AFTERNOON, Grades 2-6
