Westbriar Elementary School opened on August 30, 1965. Did you know that when our school was under construction people wanted to name it Old Courthouse Elementary and Moss Crest Elementary? On April 8, 1965, the Fairfax County School Board approved the name Moss Crest, but shortly thereafter the community spoke out in favor of a new name, Westbriar. On July 22, 1965 the School Board held a second vote, and our school's name officially became Westbriar Elementary.

Where did the name Westbriar come from?
