Ms. Chernov Recognized 2020 Region 2 Outstanding Elementary Teacher!

Ms. Chernov was recognized on November 9 at the FCPS Honors Recognition Event at Gatehouse Administration Center where she not only represented Westbriar Elementary School, not only the Marshall High School Pyramid, but all of Region 2 as the Outstanding Elementary School Teacher for 2020.

Congratulations to music teacher Misha Chernov who was recognized as the 2020 FCPS Region 2 Outstanding Elementary School Teacher and one of the five finalists for the FCPS Outstanding Elementary School Teacher for 2020.

On February 20th, Region 2 Assistant Superintendent Fabio Zuluaga, Region 2 Executive Principal Penny Gros, and Region 2 Executive Principal Brendan Menuey along with Westbriar ES Principal Mary Tam, Westbriar ES Assistant Principal Amos Simms-Smith surprised Ms. Chernov during her class to reveal the surprise announcement.

This is Ms. Chernov's 24th year in FCPS and her ninth at Westbriar Elementary. Prior to Westbriar, she was a music teacher at Centreville Elementary School for 15 years. Ms. Chernov has been with FCPS since graduating from George Mason University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music. She has earned a Master's Degree in Initiatives in Educational Transformation.
