Westbriar Elementary earned the 2012 Governor’s Award for Educational Excellence, a recognition of schools that exceed minimum state and federal accountability standards and meet or exceed a number of performance indicators. The award is a component of the Virginia Index of Performance (VIP) incentive program created by the Board of Education in 2007 and established to promote rigorous benchmarks for achievement in the core subject areas of English, mathematics, science and history/social science.

Our mission is to provide all students with a sound foundation for learning in an inclusive setting that focuses on differentiated instruction. Learners are provided with an integrated curriculum that stimulates intellectual thought. All students are encouraged and supported to reach their individual potential through a shared responsibility by all staff.
